I have had chickens since i was 12 years old. I am now 23 years old.
I started out at BYC in 2000, my screen name was 2000chickenexpert and then shortly after I changed my username to ORP IN GA. (That was back in the EZBOARD days). I was a very active member here for about 8 years. (Any old timers still here?)
I have recently graduated from college and I am getting started back with the chickens again. I am looking toward opening a hatchery within the next couple of years.
As a teenager I ran a small hatchery that specialized in just a few breeds and I did business under the name Southern Heritage Hatchery. I also owned my own egg business, which sold mainly to local people. My hatchery had customers all over the US and was fairly successful for a small hatchery in Southwest Georgia ran by a teenager.
I am getting married on May 19th, I usually spend my sundays preaching the good news, and I just enjoy the country, farm life that we have down here in SW GA.
I currently have 5 full grown chickens..(that is all that is left of my flock since I went to college) I have 2 full grown ducks, and I have a bunch of babies, and 2 baby geese! ;-)
I am glad to be back living in the country and I look forward to being back on BYC. It has been a long time and I am sure many of my old friends on here are gone, but I look forward to getting to know all the new people.
I know a good bit about raising chickens..if you ever have a question feel free to ask!
