Welcome and I'm a newbie myself...I've successfully hatched Ringneck pheasants and Button quail for a few years,so naturally,to my husbands eye rolling, I've started my chicken craze.
Unfortunately, I like rare and exotic breeds and your thread made me stop and say..whoa!! Can large and small breeds get along as adults? My chickens jump in my car,if that's indication of how their raised

Brahmas are usually gentile and get along with other breeds.

I would do it! but watch them
 
A local breeder was having trouble hatching silkies. She had be hatch for her and they hatched great!

I think one problem with hatching silkies is getting stuck into the dry hatch rut.

Silkies need more humidity and should be incubated at 40% or a bit higher

Hello. We are about a year into our chicken journey. We live on the South shore of Massachusetts. We started with 6 chicks. 3 ri reds and 3 buff orps. Unfortunately over the first year we mysteriously lost one of each. No signs of struggle we just chalked it up to nature. This May we picked up 6 more chicks from a friend who's son brought them home without permission. Been a little rough. Was able to split the coop but a hole developed where the roosting bar was resting on the fence and two of our 7 week old chicks made it in with the big girls. Unfortunately only one made it out alive and she is segregated from the rest with some serious feather loss on her head. Very sad! So needless to say we are very worried about combining our flock. Hope I can be of some help here and look forward to being part of your community. Thanks for having us. Jesse
