I picked up two new Showgirls to add to my flock as well as a Silkie.

They have been living in metal cages so I let them loose in the rabbit hutch (turned temporary chicken hutch) and they immediately got wet and dirty. Doesn't help that it's been raining like mad. I'm not one of those people who keeps the show chickens in cages, I just let them be chickens, that's just me. So I let them dry off and took their still dirty bodies up to the studio--too lazy to bathe them.

I didn't feel like changing out the background at the studio, so I used the satin set that I use for boudoir sessions.

Here are the two Showgirls, both bearded. I think they are about 3 months old, I need to confirm their ages.

Is it just me, or the little flairs of feathers at the base of the head, don't they remind you of the Brady Bunch Mom's haircut? It does me.

I'm HOPING They are girls. I have a sneaking suspicion the Silkie might be a roo. Luckily this wasn't a crow, but just a long yawn.

The Silkie. If I would have been in my right mind, I probably should have gotten only Showgirls. But being faced with all the gorgeous birds, I just said "gimme gimme gimme."

BTW, I have them on a stool and shooting a bit upward, and STILL can't see the eyes, so you can only imagine how fuzzy these guys are!

And this last one is MY rooster that I hatched out last year. He's ready for some new girls:

Does anyone else remember the scene in Labyrinth where the furry creatures are taking off their heads and switching body parts and trying to pull the girl's head off? It's been awhile since I've seen that movie, but Showgirls remind me of those creatures.

Gratzie!

Yeah, I just prefer to let them play. Thankfully I took these photos yesterday as the Silkie has managed to get poop on him today. Ugh. They have a decent size run but one of the Silkies & one of the Showgirls like to almost sit on top of each other.

Thank you!

I'm guessing the Silkie is a roo, but I'm HOPING I'm wrong.

It's funny, the Showgirls REALLY hated being on that stool. I guess they could only see down and they were NOT happy with how that was looking.
