From my reading on here my hen has gleet. I have soaked her in warm water got the poop off and after I took this pic I squeezed the prolapsed vent and got the remainder of poop out. She is leaking clear fluid.
I guess my question is, I thought the white thick stuff around her prolapsed area was dried poop but I can’t budge it. Is this something else, rotting tissue? But it’s hard not soft is there more I can do for her? I am going to tcs for vetericyn per the chicken chick sight

Sorry I meant prolapse. Obviously it’s hanging out. At the store just trying to rush and get back. I have read some posts here for info but like I said I’m rushing and panicking. She’s named Anna Lee after my mom.
I also didn’t realize until now gleet and prolapse don’t always go hand in hand. Should I just treat for the prolapse?

I am so very sorry about your hen, I'm actually going through the exact same thing....I can't get it off and I'm scared to "fix" the prolapse with it being covered in that white stuff...did you find any answers?? Also how is she doing now?

Thanks and yes still battling it. I did find an awesome article that narrowed down a complete regimen to do. It’s a guideline I’m following. I have pushed it back in and tried to hold it but she always manages to get it back out. I am calling the vet tmrw to see if there’s anything else I can do. I will try to figure out how to post a link to the article.
Best of luck to you and your hen!

Give that a read, awesome explanation and information. Keep me updated.
So today she has almost a miracle cure!! It went from disgusting smelly, scabby looking white and black with tissue dying to...her prolapse pretty much staying inside her and of normal color yet still a bit swollen when I found it Friday. Like I said I did epsom salt baths/soaks daily (with a blow dry) and all the meds she mentioned in article. I’ve placed her back with the flock as she was quite feisty and persistent today.
best of luck to you and your hen.! When you feel like giving up just hold on please. This was so unexpected and spontaneous!! It can get better :thumbsup
