globular calcium deposits on eggshell

Has anyone ever had a hen lay an egg like this one? This came from one of our Cuckoo Marans who is just finishing up her molt. In fact, this is the first egg she laid since she started molting and stopped laying a couple months ago. Hoping that her reproductive system will sort itself out before too long; I know these calcium deposits are a sign that something is off. They are pretty cool-looking though. I've seen bumps, rough spots, and wrinkles before, but never globular deposits like these.

Those look like lice eggs or some other icky bug laid them.



They are definitely NOT calcium deposits.
They are WAY to uniform.

Those look like eggs! From lice or some other pest.
I’ve had strange deposits but look close at your photo. Sometimes it’s actually easier to see in a photo.

Look at your hens vent. Lice will lay clusters of eggs where it’s warm and moist. Dollars to donuts I’ll bet she has lice.

Naw....lice eggs can dry and die hence the powder when you smush them. Please examine your hen especially feathers around the vent and under her wings.

I agree she needs a physical!

It would be a shame to miss that she has an icky bug and possibly loose her.

It sure couldn't hurt to check her over.

Wow, I'm glad I posted this photo! I will take a close look at Tiny tonight. These globules do feel calcified, but I guess they could still be dried-out lice eggs as someone wrote above. We treated the entire flock with pour-on ivermectin just 2-3 weeks ago... could they have gotten re-infested so quickly?

Everything I know about treatment of lice/mites is a second treatment is needed after 7 days to catch hatchlings. The coop would need treated too as many icky bugs don't live on the bird but come out at night to feed.
