Osprey cocked her head. “Perhaps..” she muttered, surprised. “But I would rather be out with a group of wolves to examine our territory. Recently there’s been.. an excess of loners near our camp.” She put her ears back to show she didn’t mean any disrespect. “Loners are a danger to this packs’ pups and our own store of food as well as the prey we have not yet hunted.” She pointed out.

"True. You may do that. But later I want to play tug of war with you." Shark turned and chased after Kasper. "Who cares that I'm the Alpha. Why can't I play sometimes too?"

As she began to gain on him, she slowed down again, letting him get ahead, and then pretended to run as fast as she could.

Mitts watched them all playing, wanting to join in. She resisted the urge though, fearing her clumsily wooden leg would hurt the young pup.

Sapphire glanced back at Mitts and stopped, running back to her. "You know you can give chase," She said. "If you just run a little slower then him, you couldn't possibly hurt the pup."

"Yeah," Shark said, glancing over at Mitts.

Kasper changed direction and put on a new burst of speed. He loved the warm, cozy pup den, but this was so much more fun!

Sapphire glanced back at Mitts and stopped, running back to her. "You know you can give chase," She said. "If you just run a little slower then him, you couldn't possibly hurt the pup."

‘ Okay, that’s fine with me!’ She said as she started chasing the pup with them, being careful with her fake leg.

Kasper looked back at his chasers again, and didn't realize that he was suddenly approaching the stream where the wolves got their water. The stream wasn't deep, but it was certainly cold.

Sapphire went back to running, laughing as she went. It had been a while since they had played, and she felt everyone's moods rise as they played
