Sparrow padded over to Falcon and plopped down next to him. She couldn't help scuffling her paws anxiously in the dirt. "Do you think we'll be okay today? With Mitts leading? Will my rank be taken?"

Falcon glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, “I wouldn’t worry about it too much,” he barked, “Shark is just giving her a trial run. And it’s not like Shark and Ice will let her do anything drastic.” He flicked his ear, then continued, “And, no, your rank won’t be taken. Mitts is far from a leader or a fighter, this is just an opportunity for Shark to try and teach her the importance of pack hierarchy.” He looked at her and it was one of his rare moments where his eyes actually twinkled comfortingly. Falcon knew the whole pack could do with some words of encouragement, including himself.

Mitts had heard the other wolves doubting her leadership and she felt a wave of insecurity wash over her. She tried her best not to think about what they were saying as she walked over to see if Shark was ready to help her yet.

Sparrow cocked her head and smiled, intrigued by this new side of Falcon. "I guess you're right. I hope you're right." She flicked an ear, still anxious but grateful for his reassuring words.
