Sapphire hadn't slept last night. She had been sitting at the stream. But now, she began to snap out of her clouded thoughts. It's still morning? she thought, puzzled. But she stood up and walked into camp, looking for Mitts

Mitts walked looked around, and spotted Sapphire. She ran over to her friend. ‘ Sapphire? Are you okay? Will you be okay?’ She asked frantically.

Sapphire looked up weakly. "Hello, Mitts." She gave a faint smile. "I don't know if I'll make it this time."

‘ Is there anything we can do? Anything?’ Mitts felt tears welling up in her eyes. Sapphire was her closet friend, and Mitts wasn’t ready to lose her.

Sapphire sighed. "I don't know, Mitts. But you're already leaving the pack, and you being part of the pack is the only way I'll try. But, that's not going to happen, so I guess I'll just have to die."
