Do BSL have yellow soles on their feet?

The girl in the first picture has yellow soles and is much larger than the others.

I don’t know, I’ll have to check!

I was thinking that first one looks like some sort of Maran.

They can, depending on what breeds went into the cross. One common cross for BSL is a rhode island red or new hampshire rooster over barred rock hens. All of those breeds are yellow skinned, so the resulting BSL would also have yellow skin.

If you used a barred hen with white skin, then the BSL from that cross would have white skin whether the rooster had white or yellow skin because white skin is a dominant trait. And if you used a cuckoo silkie hen you should get BSL with black skin, feathered feet, and polydactyly.

That's reassuring, was worried she was a black jersey giant since the others have black feet.
