GMO Feeds

It's a pity one can't ask a simple question from people without getting an argumentative run around. Maybe it's worded wrong, but I believe it's a pretty simple question asking where could someone start. How does asking about chicken feed convert to questioning soda and beer? Forget I asked.

Sorry, you jumped into a thread where people have been going back and forth on GMO vs Organic.
You asked a for "rank" of feeds.
Everybody will have a difference of opinion of their rank.

Which is kind of the whole point of asking different people their opinion. But it's irrelevant at this point. I'll find someone more willing to help others learn. Thanks anyways.

You'd probably be better off searching old threads for that info, I know I've found similar discussions before comparing bag tags. But as for commercial feeds, their nutritional value is generally the same. I've use Purina and Nutrena layer, both of which my birds ate with little to no difference in egg and health quality. Now I feed Southern States since it's right down the road and cheaper. They also get weekly deliveries vs. the weeks bags can sit on the shelf at a larger commercial retailer. But again, the bag tags differ very little and my flock health is well. I've never gone the organic or small mill route, so I can't comment.

I late reply but what you could do is when you go to the feed store next time compare each tag on the bags of feed and get which one offers the best nutrition to you. Say you're looking for protein; look at the different percentages and rank 1- 5 on that.

Hey i like grass fed beef,I don't have many sources for it since i moved out of city. But 95% of the population is not going to pay $6.99 a lb for grass fed ground beef.

That's funny & correct. I can either pay $6.99 for grass fed or $5.99 for hamburger at the store. I wish I lived where you all do. Meat in the store here is so close to grass fed prices that it is laughable. Grain fed crap or grass fed, think I'll keep with the grass fed. I can get all my cuts for $6.99 or less. Anyone who enjoys the 3 lb. tubes of ground beef at Wally World, have at it.

Nobody says you can't make a choice. Heck, I even prefer grass fed beef. Eat what you like, go out and eat dandelions, I don't care and neither do any other people on this forum. But to sit there and deny science is just ridiculous. Please refer to trial and error. We learn from mistakes as apart of human nature.

You have a choice of butter, or margarine. You have a choice to make your own pancake mix, or buy it. You have a choice to feed your chickens grass clippings and veggie scraps, or just go buy a bag of feed from the feed store. No one is forcing you to conform to eat gmo's. Nobody is gonna come up to you while eating and tell you you cant' eat what you're eating because they say so.

Also, if you're gonna talk history, well...read my posts better.

Not sure what science you are talking about. There's science & there's paid for science & then there's science that hasn't been proven yet. GMO is all of the above at this point. History?? Bet you are a food science major..........yum!
