GMO Feeds

Also the testing done on gmo is unfair. Its one sided. You cannot prove to me that it's safe because of this therefore I will support NORMAL food! Hahaha. and your right no ones tryna make me eat that crap butttttttttttt I don't want gmos to ruin my chances of ever planting organic crops. It destroys the land it grows on and nothing else can grow there but gmo. If thy dosnt sound evil idk what does
You sound like a child. 'Unfair'? Well maybe if you could push 'organic' to be tested it wouldn't be unfair. Anything can grow in the soil after gmo's. It's a common myth that gmo's destroy the land. Over farming destroys the land, fracking destroys the land, pouring oil from your car onto the land is bad for it. Food is food. What may be normal to you is not normal to someone else, vice versa. Many people keep cats as pets in U.S. but in China it is a common delicacy. Some people eat bugs, which is normal to them but not to others. It is not evil. Nor is planting a gmo plant. Its a plant, not a diabolical mind. The farmer planting the plant is not a evil genius waiting for you to take a bite and turn into a cancerous goop.

I don't even know why I try sometimes with people who refuse science like a kid refusing to eat peas. I don't even know what is so organic about the plants you mention; other that they have carbon in them.

Why would organic food testing need to e pushed? They have independent studies...Monsonto does not allow independent studies on there gmo crops. But ya know I'm not gonna open everyone's eyes. Some people are just as stubborn as I. So you feel the way you do and I'll eat what's bet for me. Science says almost always messing with what nature gave us has negative consequences. Now that's nt saying we shouldn't be going to the moon and exploring technology just don't mess with the food! I appolagize if I razzled you. I feel very strongly about good food and apparently you feel very strongly about your science

I agree we can disagree, and we are passionate about two different things that very well overlap. I apologize for being rude, and I accept your apology.

RosyRed,

Your statement that Monsanto doesn't allow independent testing isn't true at all. The simple fact of the matter is that GMO foods are independently tested to a drastically higher level than pretty much anything else on the market. We have a significantly better idea of the safety of GMO crops than we have of any other food on the market.

EVER SINGLE GMO crop is tested for common allergy triggering proteins. No Organic crops are tested for these things. Every GMO crop is tested to make sure that it doesn't contain any proteins that haven't been previously recognized in the particular plant species. This never happens with organics. Every GMO goes through safety trials and studies - no organics do.

They require less pesticides. They have less pesticide residue on them because of that.

The data is there - the data is blindingly obvious - and the data is clear. The problem is that the Organic Foods industry brings in hundreds of billions of dollars in the US alone every year, and spends billions in lobbying, advertising, and generally spreading misinformation.

In excess of 90% of organic foods available in the USA are produced by a handful of companies - Coca Cola, General Mills, Hain, KraftFoods, etc - they've got tons of money. Coca Cola alone is 5 times the size of Monsanto.

It's amazing that there are people who think that the Government is in Monsanto's pockets, and not Coca Cola/etc.

Bill ny the science guy!!! I love him. This is views on both sides.

Also Monsonto makes farmers sign that they will not do independent studies. Yes independent studies are finally taking place in America but the time the studies take could effect the environment if there are dangers in gmo and these effects could be hard to reverse.

Please post a credible reference to this - I'm about 99.99999% sure this is something that either you made up, or you Mother Earth News made up and you're parroting.

We've been doing independent, controlled studies on GMO foods for 30+ years.

It's is called the Monsonto protection act. It states a lot of things I find evil. My opinion. I've done the research and this is what I take from it. I'm sorry you do not understand my side and I wish you the best with yours.
