goat boredom

you are probably right..they were born in november and december and we dont really get our cold weather until january so maybe all this is just freaking them out.

i would have never thought about that either. but then again - it never occurred to me that baby chicks dont know what 'the dark' is either. i never will forget the screaming the first time i turned off the lights in the brooder... like the sky was falling!

but really - the warm water was the ticket.

This nasty weather streches a lot of miles and there isn't anyone happy ? about it. The best thing I can say is at least we got some moisture- which we badly needed. The chores take longer and trudging around in 12 to 24 inches of snowdrifts just plain wears a person out. The floors are wet from the snow drug in, and it is just a shock to all our systems(animals included).

My boer triplets (born wednesday) are doing fine! Pics if I get time.

My goats like a bit of warm water and extra alfalfa to settle them in nice and warm. Our shed faces south so they are all sunbathing now that the clouds have passed. I'm taking a break before we go out again to do the evening chores.

This snow will surely not last long- yeah! Susan
