The original owner took them "to market."

It was a very sad day.

I actually concluded that it would be more humane to slaughter them on-site, than go through the auction, slaughterhouse routine, but alas, I wasn't able to make that happen.

oh I thought they just died where they both bucks or wheaters?

They were both wethers. I had them castrated when they were a couple of weeks old with the intent to keep them as pets. Even though it didn't turn out that way, it was a fantastic learning experience. And it is good for my children to truly understand where our food comes from. They were actually much better than me.
