I have 3 week old nigerian dwarf kids who are growing like weeds. all are still nursing of course off mommas and are also eating hay, grain and drinking water from buckets.. all have started pooping little black semi pelleted (not as defined as adults) since eating solid foods. However, tonight I noticed one of the little doelings pooped and it came out as a blob of mucousy (consistency of mucous) with what looked like tiny tiny bubbles (like a frothy type) and was a white/pale cream color. now in this blob (simillar to what you would squeeze out of toothpaste tube) there were the tiny dark kid pellets. causes of this? she is eating/behaving as feisty as the others.. I have not started a coccidia prevention here as I have never had a problem.. I believe I have a bottle of sulmet in basement- suggestions for this kid- I also was wondering about c/d antitoxin? she does not act like anything is "upset" in her belly or not prohibiting her from eating or playing.. just concerned as I have not noticed this before.

I would have your vet look at her poop for cocci. I don't treat mine for cocci unless I know I need to. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will come along and give you a better answer then me

, hopefully. Sorry, I've never had to deal with cocci before.

Sounds like she is starting to eat and get her rumin started. Either that or she has been really eating well from mom. Get the poop checked to see if it is cocci. Then you will know for sure. Sometimes its what I call Heat Scours as when mom goes back into heat and it affects the baby. Cocci poops smell really bad. Once you know the smell you will know.
