Goat links?

What a shame. I am sure the word will spread and she'll have takers for those goats. Look at all o us here wanting good milk goats.

With some TLC I bet you can get some weight on her and still milk her. Being careful of bloat I know you'll get some good alfalfa in her and you might look for blue seal caprine challenger. It can be a bit pricey compared to other feed but it is good feed. I have seen it put weight on some skinny goats.

At this point she's still trying to sell the milkers and does of milking age. I didn't quibble because this was a 3 year old that was still milking well. A lot of the goats the woman complained weren't giving enough milk for the kids she left at their sides this year. Hate to say it but it's hunger.

I've got 20 acres fenced for the horses and goats. Lot of it is half grown in fields. Browsers paradise. She should pick up weight without a lot of fancy feed. Right now she doesn't seem to know what green grass is. Eats very little hay. The kid is picking up on it faster.

I need to work on her feet. They aren't just long they are rotten. She has so much manure caked on her that I've just been feeding the milk to the cats and chickens for now. Bald in spots from manure burn. I've cleaned her up a lot but it's too cold out for an outright bath. Rained the last 2 days and she is better but still some to go.

If you wind up with too much milk, something you might consider is feeding it to a pig or some turkeys. When I was a kid we raised all our meat that way. The goats were the basis for the whole food chain at our place. Milk and meat for us, feed for other animals, and fertilizer for the garden.
