Goat Thread!

Sounds like Milk is quite the handful! Ours didn't settle down to they were about nine/ten months old, but I think it can depend on the breed. It might help if you take Milk and Cookie (or at least Milk) on a walk every other day or something like that. Sometimes the goats just like to get out and look around. :)
Beautiful! :love
:D

I'm new to owning goats, but boy do I love these cuties.
I have a question, my pygmy Nigerian buckling broke his leg exactly 4 weeks ago below the knee and has had a splint on it, we changed it last week, he walks, jumps, and plays very well on it. He still has his splint on, but now keeps biting on it trying to take it off. It's not too tight or anything. But do you think he wants it off? Should I take it off or wait till 6-8 weeks?

I'm not sure what the standard protocol for how long goats need to have leg splints on is, so I probably won't be much help. Honestly, I would just call a livestock vet near you and ask what they think you should do. They should be pretty helpful and won't charge you for just calling and asking. ;)

Well there are no vets near by, just one since i live pretty far in the country. And that vet was very rude and charges alot for anything.

I think we have come up with a solution for now. Hubby hammered in star pickets and slid pallets he got from work over top. I have had to retrieve them from the road and the
Neighbours twice in the last week. I can't wait until our paddock is enclosed. Thinking of what we can do that can be removed during floods. It is costing us a fortune. We've had three floods in 6 years. This one was scary.

Good Morning BYC!!

6 months or so ago I put reservations on a breeding pair and just this last week my two little wether boys were born! No names yet... and they won't get to come home for another 7 weeks or so --- but meet my new duo!

The two book ends in this Radio Flyer:

I can't wait to update and share what we are doing for their house and run.

I had a goat break a leg at her hip last year, we splinted it and changed it and about two weeks later we couldn't keep it on her she threw it off so much, at that point we figured she was probably ready to leave it off. She doesn't even limp now, hasn't limped since maybe a month after the break and that was just about a year ago.

Glad to hear you have it worked out for now! :)
