We just brought home 3 Boer goats yesterday. They were free from someone trying to get rid of some. We have a male and two females. One of the females has a noticeable udder and the other does not. I'm 100% new to goats and wondering what, if anything, that means. I'm Googling the heck out of everything, but most things I read tend to assume some basic knowledge I don't have.

Udder is where a goat feeds her babies.! If u want goats for milk u need to have good size udder! A goats udder will fill when she is pregnant and after deleivering baby. The udder keeps on increasing as many pregnancy it has. That means if u need ur goats for milk u need to breed tthm. A nice good udder is round and tight. Also a good udder has not much big not much small, it has a medium size nipples. Small nipples will hard ur work of milikng and and so will large one. If u dont want the goats for milk then there is no need for u to knw much about goat udder. Also u should splash out first squirt of milk beacause it has the possible bacterias

Thats all what i knw
Hope its helpfull for u!

Does that mean the one goat has given birth before, and the other hasn't? I don't want them for milk, just wanted to know why one of them had an udder and the other just had teats close to her belly.

Once a goat has kidded the udder never completely goes away. It will shrink once she quits giving milk, but it will never vanish.
