I looked at some previous post on worming goats but couldn't find an age to start worming at. my goat is a 9 week old saanen alpine so how much to give? weigh her or should i use the girth weight method? use safeguard or ivermectin first? how often to alternate. when should the CDT shot be given and when should it be repeated? can i do it myself or should i go to the vet? sorry for all the questions but i would like to get a friend for my girl and want her to be all up to date and be able to get the new one up to date too

I worm for the first time at weaning, which is 8 - 12 weeks.

cant help you with the rest cos I'm in Australia and any of my suggestions wouldnt be much help

I give first CD/T shots at 3 weeks if they come from a unvacc. dam and if they do I give the first shot at 6 to 8 weeks old and then again at 6 mths. When worming if its paste wormer you give 3 to 4 times the weight as a dose so if they weight 25 lbs then worm for 100 lbs. This would be for tapes which is probably what you need to worm for first. Before you worm take some poop to the vet and get a fecal first to see if it needs worming. This is the best thing to do.JMO

My vet is adamant that, no matter what type of wormer you use, double the cattle dose when deworming goats. Their metabolism is higher.
