Well, you know how people are always taking their dogs and snakes and other such creatures into places like Petsmart and such, well I was wondering, anyone out there ever fancied the idea of walking into petsmart or TSC with their goat...of course I am talking about a leash trained people oriented goat...and something small like a pygmy...not something huge like a boer. I just can't get over the idea...its seems like something that would either be really funny or a complete disaster. I mean, I've taken my two girls to crawfish boils and friends houses and such, but going somewhere public with a goat on the lead sounds, well I'll admit a little crazy...but is it do able...has it been done before...would they even let a goat past the front door. (I am not seriously considering this...I just think it sounds like a funny idea and am wondering if anybody has ever even tried something like this)

I haven't, but I'd be worried about the dogs there. Some dogs will be intent on killing a goat, and if the owner isn't paying attention...Just seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

Hahahaha well I have actualy done this with one of my goats , nanny sue, and they aloud it at our local petsmart! But I'm not sure about other places!!! It actualy went well!! The people in there didn't like it to well!!

Lot of mess to clean up when the goat decides to pee or poop. Mine seem to do so when they get nervous or are in a new environment. And yes, I'd be concerned about other people's dogs. Personally I wouldn't do it.

I have, but only babies, adults like to poop to much, so no way. Petco, and Atwoods before they stopped allowing animals. Also took my PBP w/ me when she was a baby, she did all my xmas shopping w/ me that year!

Yeah, the idea of cleaning up after a goat in a public place isn't too pretty of a picture

I am glad I am not the only person to get this idea though

Just wish there was some place goat owners could go with their goats just to have a little fun, you know

There is a woman here who always takes her goat to the bus stop to pick up the kids. No lead or harness. The goat behaves better than most kids. (get it, goat... kid....)

I don't have any personal experience. It would be interesting but I wouldn't take one of my cats because of some of the canines that aren't used to cats. I don't know if I would put any animal through that unless they were ballsy as hell and could handle it.

Let us know what you decide.

I saw a goat at walmart a couple months ago. They woman was very friendly and the goat was dressed up. I would love to leash train mine, but they have their own mind and are (almost) as tall as me.

I used to work at Petsmart, and we had lots of people bring in goats (calves and mini horses too). The goats didn't seem to enjoy walking through a store full of dogs. And I can tell you the employees don't appreciate have to clean up the messes they leave behind.
