goats wont quit crying over their dogs.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dogs

Your goats will mourn for a while though. When our doe lost her kids it took her 2 weeks before she was back to her old self. She was constantly yelling and looking out the gate for me and her kids. All you can really do is give them a little more extra attention. At least that's what I did with our Daisy. It is heartbreaking to listen to them.

Are you sure the poisoned them? What would drive me nuts is why they would do it in the first place. Did your dogs bark all day and all night? There really is no excuse for what they did, I'm just curious.

As to your question, if this ever happens again, leave the dead dog/baby goats out in the pen for 12-24 hours. It sounds gross, but their mother/pen mates will go over and check them out, then leave and come back, and in 12-24 hours they will figure out their friend/kids are gone, and their mourning will be almost over. In your case, I'm guessing you removed the dead dogs, and the goats are just calling and calling for the dogs to come back. It may take a couple of weeks before everything settles down at your place. Sorry for your loss.

i contacted the police and animal control and nothing can be done because i didnt see it happen.

to give you an idea about how they are here..my shovel broke this morning while i was digging poor collin a grave..so i had to call them to pick him up..i put him in a bag and put him by the curb as they requested.
he is still out there!!!! i keep trying to call but all i get is their machine.
i am fairly sure it was poisoning because dogs just dont drop dead like that..it wasnt parvo or distemper either..i mean, it was weird! that morning, they were both completely normal, running around and being gross as usual and about 3 in the afternoon, here is my first dog foaming at the mouth, shaking and hiding his head from me and later that night, dead with blood and guts coming out of his backside. the other one lasted a little longer, and i thought he might make it but no, he died sometime during the night. this paticular neighbor got mad at me last week because the first one dug a hole under her fence to play with her dogs and i apologized, offered to fix the hole and fixed our fence. then i kept seeing her out there poking around, and then she would go in and look out her living room window which faces our back yard..i dont know, maybe its one of those things where you have to be there to see what i mean but it just doesnt add up at all.

oh trust me, if i were 100 percent sure i would be over there right now with the police. but i didnt see her do it, and i cant really do anything when all i have is a gut feeling. im not one to go around thinking that people are out to get me but i sure do feel it right now.

can you bake her an Oleander pie? ...or better yet...some tea.. sorry..not funny...*bad Wendy, BAD!

If your dogs ate poison, so might yet another innocent victim, so I would immediately check everywhere the dogs ventured with a fine toothed comb. I would also be checking my neighbor's place for poison supplies when they weren't home (in case in a shed or other accessible place). Could they have put out poison for rats and the dogs found it? I would have the dogs tested to find out what substance killed them so that you can put 2 and 2 together. If your neighbors poisoned your dogs it's important to know it if there is any way at all to do so. It's a horrific way to die.
