to resist getting ducklings. Earlier this week I went to Tractor Supply. They had mallard ducklings. I was able to walk away (with 10 chicks) because I know I don't want mallards. Then I see an ad on craigslist stating that one of the semi-local co-ops will be getting swedish blue ducklings next week. I think swedish blues are the prettiest ducks I have seen. I keep telling myself, you don't have a pond, you don't need ducks, ducks are messy, you don't need ducks, you don't need ducks, you don't need ducks. I don't need ducks, I don't need ducks, I don't need ducks...

You DO have the power to resist!!!! REALLY, really you do!!!

If you say it aloud often enough you will believe

Which is why I now have 4 ducklings in the brooder. Oooooh, did you say Blue Swedish?

Ok...so you dont need them... But you want some of those gorgeous little babies that will be available so close in just a few days...You wouldnt want to miss out on the joy of watching those little ones having their first swim... watching them preen themselves- and sleeping all snuugled up together. You couldnt deny yourself the joy of holding one of those sweet litle guys and you dont want to have to miss out on seeing a few beautiful blue Swedish wandering around your yard once they are grown. You dont need a pond...You have heaps of room for a kiddy pond...

go on...

just go get some..

You are in the WRONG place if you want encouragement to resist.

We are all duck-enablers here.

Go on, get a few. You don't need a pond. A kiddie pool will do. A predator-proof enclosure (they can sleep with your chickens!) at night, and they eat the same thing your chickens do. Go on, get a duck!!

You can do it!

I 2nd the kiddie pool...That's all I have for mine and they love it! I do suggest getting the smaller pools as they are easier to dump out, rinse and refill....

Poop up to your ankles, Wet Litter everywhere. Spending money on birds, fencing, housing & feed all to provide a few seconds of fun to your neighbors dog Or some good eats for the native wildlife? How can you even think of such a thing? ~goosedragon, satan's steed

Oh yes, you have to pick up a few blue swedish!

We have two right now brooding in our spare tub along with 2 pekins. They are the sweeeetest! I think my DH is enamored with them.

Of course he keeps singing " cute little duckies, tasty little duckies, " to them.
