Middle of somewhere
Hey guys. So if anyone here has seen my other threads, one of my absolute best hatches was a few months ago when I got two adorable little ducklings. One went viral at a wildlife reserve called Appalachian wildlife and is now the resident duck there.
Anyway, I am dying to hatch again. I’m about 14 and my parents absolutely love it when I hatch but since we gave that one duck away, now both parents feel like they can’t go through the pain of letting go again, and we don’t have the space for a full time duck home, and it was a lot of work. So I’m just trying to do quail this time, but even though it’s half of the work of ducks, and it takes half as long to hatch, they still won’t go for it. I even have a good friend who’s an adult that would take the quail once I was done, but they said try asking again in a month. I can’t wait that long, especially since there’s a chance that they could still say no. Any ideas? Pls respond soon! Thanks 😊

As a parent of a teen, write up a detailed plan outlining everything from the start of the hatch to the disposition of the last chick, and present it to them. It establishes expectations and, if you stick to it, increases your credibility for future endeavors.
This is awesome advice, I have two teens as well. Also make sure you don't pester. Persistent dedication is good, but don't be a pest. In addition to showing your dedication to hatching make sure you keep up on other responsibilities, I know my boys always become extra helpful when charming Mom and I admit I fall for it. In anything you are passionate about patience is important. I will cross my fingers that your parents come around, I love seeing young people involved in agriculture! Good Luck!!

Aw thanks guys! Apologies for putting my age I guess. Is that bad? Anyway, amazing advice.

In this case it was relevant, but always be careful online. Quail are substantially easier than ducks and a lot of fun. Do your research and remember patience. I love my quail and I really hope you get the chance to raise some!
