I feel for you. We were without power and water after Ivan for a full three days. Whew! Glad your power is back.

Illinois has their share of ice storms every winter, and my DH got a chance to buy a kick butt generator for $600 that runs our whole house if we don't turn everything on at once, and its the best investment we ever made. We always have gas cans full and ready to go. Last time was 8 days, and it was just so comforting to know we were going to be o.k. Hope they get it back on soon. It's so frustrating.

the ones i have looked at for the whole house start at $1500. that is more than our electricity bill for the entire year.
