... and still no egg!

Soupie has still not produced an egg, although her sister(s) have been laying for nearly two weeks.

Seems like the last two days she has taken an intrest in the box though, where before she could have cared less whether it was there or not. And, she has occasionaly been doing the "roo squat" when I go to pick her hup (although the roo has never shown an intrest in her).

She was making quite the fuss this morning, and I tought that maybe she was singing the egg song, but no such luck. She was scolding Sunny for being in her space on the roost.

So, here I sit, still waiting....

It does seem like it takes forever to get them started good. It'll come. A few months ago I was very frustrated with having to buy store bought eggs and now I have to figure out how I will position everything in the refrigerator to allow for the homemade wine and 20 dozen or so eggs. I'm about to put up a sign. Be patient. You won't be disappointed.

Frustrating, isn't it?!? Several of mine have been doing the squat/wing spread thing when I touch them, but only one has started laying. My little barred rock just started squatting, so I'm hoping it'll be the next week or two... Maybe it's the stress of her name...lol. Makes me think of chicken soup.

Doing the squat? Yeah!! Of course, it could still be a couple of weeks after the squat that they start to lay. Give her time...she should be laying before you know it:) My girls ranged in age from 20 weeks to about 27 weeks. Patience, grasshopper:P

Well, tonight was the first time I'd actually seen the roo.. urm... well, you know

Maybe if I quit checking two and three a day it'll happen

Boy, can I relate!!! I was so worried about mine girls not laying, I thought I was doing something wrong, I thought I might have all roos, I thought they were laying somewhere in the coop....well my first girl laid at 27weeks and the last laid today at 40+ weeks.. So, don't give up... She lay soon.... Good luck...Dixie
