I used a broody chicken to hatch my duck's eggs. I think it's great that they can brood outdoors and you can forego the heat lamp and forego the stink in the house. Very little cleaning is necessary and the mama does all the work. It's a great experience and I recommend it. Ahead of time start thinking of ways to make your coop and run safe for itty bitty ducklings (mine was great for larger birds and not so great for the ducklings, I had to make some modifications). Think about making a second feed and water station that ducklings can easily use access, perhaps behind a barrier with a small door that only the littles can get through and the adult ducks cannot, so they don't run out of food/water and so that they aren't bullied around the food/water. Think of ways you can divide up your area if needed. Adult ducks can be downright violent towards ducklings that are not their own. If they are hatched and raised with the flock and mama to protect them, they definitely stand a better chance of a smooth integration, but have a backup plan in place if one (or more) of the adult ducks will not play nice when the ducklings hatch. Have fun and good luck! Oh, also it helps to have plans in place for the ducklings when they grow up so you don't have to worry. Will you keep them all? What if your M/F ratio is off? Do you know someone who will take them? Will you butcher them? There are lots of things you can think about and work on BEFORE they hatch that could keep you busy now, so that when they hatch all you have to do is watch them grow!

I saw a duckling in a slipper here I believe, cutiest damn thing I have ever seen.

My machismo doesn't stand a chance against those cute cuddly little fuzzy babies. They just melt me into putty lol! Baby ducks are like my kryptonite lol. Even my mum is kinda blown away how I have become so mushy and gushy over my little buddies
