GOSH! I think the coop looks good! That being said, I do know how it feels to have something in your mind and then it turns out to be total opposite from what you wanted. I think when you give it some paint and beautifie it up it will be GREAT! ..not what you wanted but still great! Just be glad it's your chicken house and not YOUR house. MY hubby bought our property that we built on without consulting me and asking me if I liked it....and then.... our house plans. Definitely not where I would have choosen to build and not how I would have built it but given time I have learned to love it.

Oh boy, I TOTALLY understand how you feel. My dad is the exact same way. Gets all into whatever project it is at the moment then gets fed up midway thru and just patches the rest together.

I think your coop will be perfectly salvageable, it does look pretty good in those pic's. But I do get that you want what you want, how you want it!

I'm so thankful my husband understands this completely. He hears exactly what I want, turns a deaf ear to me while I complain about how he's doing it, and it always turns out just like I wanted only better! I tell him it's because I grew up with my dad, I can't help but worry about how things are going to turn out!

First of all... from the pictures on your BYC Page, I think the coop looks great! Do you have more recent pics, because I'm not seeing anything to be upset about.

Secondly, I've never touched a power tool in my life... until about a week ago! ha!! I just started building my coop all by myself while my DH is at work during the day. I knew if I asked him to do it, it would never get done, or whatever. Okay, so I've had to make a few dumb calls to him at work... like the last call I made was "how do I turn it on?" BUT, for the most part, the power tools are pretty self explanatory.. I haven't cut a finger off. (okay, better go knock on wood now!) Have you looked around this board? There are so many women building these amazing coops here with no help of a man! I'm totally inspired and jazzed about that! I think you could just get right in there and start working on it instead of taking a back seat. There's no reason why you can't. The only advice I have is... measure, and measure, and measure before you cut... and use SCREWS! Don't use any nails.. ever! LOL! I have had to back out so many screws (because I messed up). I can't imagine having to pry nails out. But it looks like your coop is nearly done and I can't imagine what could be done to ruin it now? Someone said paint it pink... do whatever it is that would make you feel better!

The man I am married to not only taught me how to use every tool we own, he also sits back with a cold beer and watches me work my arse off in 100+ degree heat building whatever it is I want built lol. He'll lend a hand if asked of course, because he's wonderful. But there is no better feeling then looking at your completed project no matter if it's obvious it wasn't done by a pro, and know that you did that, and can do it again and make about anything you may envision in the future.

First of all, You have a vision, and that's what you want. So that's what you should have.

Second of all, there's nothing you can't learn from YouTube. Trust me. My ex messed up my snow blower, the only thing I knew about it was that it was red

But I went to YouTube and typed in how to change a belt on a snow blower and a bunch of videos came up. I picked one that showed me how to change the oil, the spark plug and the belt. The guy gave a great audio explanation with the video showing where are the parts were an how to get them out. I watched it, went and got the new belt, called my best BYC friend and asked him how to make sure I got the right size belt (since the ex threw the old one away without getting the correct new one

) then I watched the video again, ran out and put the new belt on, It was all said and done in 8.5 minutes. 2 years later, it still runs perfectly.

I also used YouTube to learn how to get my daughter's hair perfect for cheer competition, and many other things. The point is, we are all smart, we just have different basic knowledge. As long as you have Internet Access there isn't anything you can't do.

Now find a way to send dad home and then start planning your renovations.
