I also recently received a Brower Model # 11400-3 incubator and also found your thread saying your had instructions. I would be really grateful to receive these instructions. Also I have read this entire thread and I also feel that 103 degree's would kill my eggs. Any help with the temp settings on this model would be helpful.

Thanks

Steve

Still air is recommended at 102. I've never heard it depended on model. Just type. Forced air 99.5 and still 101-102

Thank you for your response - I have a couple of concerns only because I'm new at this incubator hatching chicks stuff.
I'm a farm hand I work on a farm 24/7. My mother when I was kid hatched out a few batches of chicks in a incubator and it was a great experience growing up to have been involved in that. I now want to share this same experience with my son.
So I got this Brower 845 / 11400-3 still air incubator the old school kind where you have to turn eggs twice a day and so forth.
My concern is and I have many but the main concern is that I don't like how the temp fluctuates from about 101 down to 96 or so and then back up when the heater kicks on. Now i have enclosed the incubator in a blanket and placed it in a box and the temp still fluctuates.
So any help or suggestions with this issue first would be outstanding as I know I need to get the temperature stable before the incubation process starts.
I have more questions for anyone who is willing to help.

Thanks

Steve

I have heard of putting sterile stones is the water water wells because they hold in heat once they warm up, but I don't peronally know anyone who has done this. I can tell you that when you are hand turning your eggs, you need to turn them at LEAST 3 times a day, more is better, but always turn them an odd number of times so that at night they are being left on the opposite side. That way they aren't spending the longest time of not being turned on the same side every night. :)

And yes, it's awesome for the kids. That's why we did our first hatch was part of a homeschool lesson for my first grade son. We never intended to keep or start raising chicks ourselves, but that one time was all it took...lol

That's right folks its an old thread,, but still going. I still send out incubator instructions, but I'm rarely on the site. PM requests do get forwarded to my email. Please be sure to include your incubator model and email address in the request.

Don't worry about the fluctuations. Remember the hen doesn't keep them at a perfectly precise temp. My old brower has big swings and it still hatches out better than any other incubator I've tried. I have the big model and I was able to fit an automatic egg turner in it (I had to cut off a tab on the side of the turner to make it fit).

Enjoy! My son loves hatching baby chicks.
