Going to let pullets out to free range tomorrow for the first time

We let ours free range for the 1st time today, they stayed together and barely left one small area of the yard.
As it got later, they started their "We want to go home" chirping and were following close to me while I was doing yardwork. So we simply picked them up and brought them into the coop.
(Our are very very tame). Good luck!

we have 6 and we let them out and they did well. we got them live meal worms and they loved them! they stayed with us and pecked around us on the grass. we hand feed our girls all the time so there used to being hand fed and take foods and follow us. just give them treats you know they love and they will be fine

Mine have gotten out of their little jerry-rigged run twice, both times cause I forgot to close off one of the openings. the chicks were certainly enjoying themselves, but didn't go far from their pen, or from each other. We had to herd them back to the opening they got out of, and they remembered where to get back in, so it was no great problem. Some good will come out of this: Since it was my DH who let them out improperly this morning, he recognizes that I need him to get things rolling and get the big pen put up. Now maybe he won't be so reluctant to help me.

I'm brand new to chickens this year, so everything has been the first time and lots of worry about getting it right. This past week was the first time to let them out to free range. The first evening, I sat with them and fed lots of treats. They were loving life, digging, eating bugs and in general being happy chickens. By the weekend, I was just keeping an eye on them from the house and they were fine. While I was working, I heard a tapping on the door - I looked through the window and didn't see anyone and thought it must be my imagination. I heard it again and this time opened the door - to one of my hens. So much for them going too far, if I had let her she would have come right on in for a visit. Lol.
