Do I need to separate the hen and the babies?
Can the babies eat layer food till i am able to get chick starter crumbles from the farm supply store?
Also If I can keep babies in with mom do I still need a heat lamp?

Let mama take care of her babies. Put some starter in there and let mom eat this too. It will not hurt her. Keep the layer crumble up away from the chicks until they are older. Not because it is bad for them, but they need the starter.
If you have mom, you will not need a heat lamp. I put an 150 watt infrared lamp in with my mama and babies. This really calms them down and it does not disturb the sleep cycle for the babies.
Mom likes the lamp too on cold nights. I turn the lamp off during the day as mom can take care of her babies.
Mom will decide when her babies need to be weaned.
