UPDATE: After his intestines came out, I knew there was no hope for this little guy. I called my vet and they told me they would euthanize him for free for me. I know he is suffering, and just looking at him breaks my heart. I just have to remind myself that I am doing the right thing

My chick hatched about 3 hours ago. He was all fine and dandy. I worked for a hour or two and came back and it looks like his yolk came back out. When he hatched there was a little bit left for him to absorb, but now it is all out. I am not sure if it is the yolk or not though. Any suggestions please? How much of a chance is there of him making it?

He is moving around. He seems exhausted, but he is acting just like the others. Yellow stuff is coming out of the sac, but not much - just a little. He moves around, and then sleeps, and moves around, and then sleeps.

I have left him in the bator, and the thing that came out is moist. Should I keep him in the bator?

Um yeah, that is the yolk. I would leave her be and make sure that if you have other chicks hatching to protect her from them. I had one like that and another chick hatched and broke the yolk sac. It was quite the mess and the chick didn't make it.

I would cull him. If the yolk came back out, I wouldn't be surprised if everything comes out (organs I mean) and he'll be in a lot of pain if that happens. He didn't absorb it properly and the abdominal wall did not seal correctly. You can try to make a syran wrap bandage and see if he will reabsorb it, but you have to keep it clean and away from sharp objects. Normally when a chick doesn't absorb the yolk, the abdominal wall closes before it was absorbed. But in his case it sounds like it's still open.

be prepared most times they don't make it
it probably had a piece of the yolk sac stuck to the shell and all the pulling csaused this
the chick will b week
take and put a long cut piece of card board to isolate the chick to the corner of the incubator to keep other chicks from prcking on it
may need to lay a small piece of wet paper towel over his rear end to cover the yolk so it doesn't dry out and the body absorbit
but do isolate him in the incubator
if you have some hail screen cut it length you need to make it fit the incubator tray toi isolate him asap

if you can do it SAFELY AND GENTLY, position the yolk on a damp piece of paper toweling to protect it and keep it from drying out or make a belly wrap from plastic wrap to keep it in position and from dragging or "pulling". (and to possibly help prevent its breaking before it can be absorbed by the little one). Put this little guy/girl separate from everyone else; keep it warm. I hope your baby makes it.

Thanks everyone. I put him in the corner and he is isolated. I also put a damp paper towel underneath him. I will keep it damp for him. Hopefully he makes it.

Can he survive without the yolk? Or is it a must that he absorb it?

Update: He moved again, and the sac is bleeding a little bit, I put a moistened paper towel on it and got him to calm down and stay still. It isn't bleeding bad, just a little. Does he still have a chance?

He must absorb it.

If it is only a tiny amount of blood, it should be fine. This could take a while.
