I posted a message on an "older thread" in another forum, but I got to thinking that perhaps it would be better posted on this forum.(I HOPE this is NOT a "serious" breach of forum etiquette!)

Here is a "link" to that posting:

I would appreciate any informative comments.

THANK YOU!

Here's a picture of the rooster named "Oro Blanco de Gallo" this I took today. I couldn't get a pic of the hens...they wouldn't leave the small coop.

(I only have 2 hens now and apparently the 2nd hed thinks that the "broody" one needs help being broody so she has crawled into the nest also..won't leave.)

I'll get a hen picture when I can....basically, they LOOK like "Buff Orpingtons"....??????

Hope this helps,

i'm not sure what question you're asking?
but he's a sexlink aka golden comets, they should have yellow legs.
buff orpingtons have pink legs only!

if you cross a sexlink and BO you will get a buff color with splashes of white , legs willbe crossed pink/yellow and the beak will be brown, so basically it will look like a sexlink hen, BUT you will not be able to "color sex" them.

Sorry, that I didn't make my question very clear.

I'm wondering IF my hens are "Golden Buff" (Golden Comet Sex-Link) OR Buff Orpingtons. I know the rooster is NOT Buff Orpington, but a "mutt" ...PERHAPS a "Golden Buff" hybrid rooster.

I'll post a picture of a hen when I can get one. The hens have "pinkish" legs and white skin. The rooster's legs are yellow.

Do "Golden Buff" (Golden Comet Sex-Link) hens have pink legs and white skin?

Whadda ya think?

Cynthia,
THANK YOU !!!

According to your most recent post...................

Then, perhaps, as I thought to begin with, the hens ARE Buff Orpingtons, since the skin is white and the legs pinkish.

I seriously suspect that the rooster (pictured) IS a Golden Buff (Golden Comet, Red Sex-Link, etc.) There seem to be many names for this cross...perhaps there are minor variations contributing to the name differences.

Here are 2 pictures of one of the hens in question:

In the second picture, you may be able to see the difference in leg color between the hen and my rooster.

The pictures aren't very good because the cheap digital camera that I have isn't very good (an old JamCam3). Perhaps the pix are good enough...?

Thanks again for the opinions and help in this identification.
