My Americauna / Easter Egger finally started laying! Seems like she’s better accepted in the flock already now that she’s pulling her weight.

Congratulations on that egg, that is a good feeling.

When they start laying is generally when my pullets are accepted into the adult flock. I don't look at it as pulling their weight but more that they mature enough to stand up to the other hens and force their way into the pecking order.

For whatever reason flock dynamics often change when a pullet starts laying. That's usually a good thing. :thumbsup

Thank you, all my birds are the same age, but the others all started laying over a month ago. Golden chicken was a late bloomer.
I also found it interesting that my birds didn’t really care for mealworms at all until they started laying. When all the others started laying, they started freaking out over mealworms. And Golden chicken had no idea what the others were so excited about. Now that she started laying, she now gets just as frantic when I get the treats out. Chickens are so cool.
