How do I tell if my comets are hens or Roos? I have 2 comets and 4 araucanas... One Goldie is smaller and sweet and the other is big and not so nice. Also only one is laying. How do I find out if my one is a rooster?

The red or golden sex link allows for chicks to be sexed at hatch. The females pick up the reddish gold color of their sire, while the males pick up the white of their dams.

In short, the males and females of the sex link hybrids, marketed under any name, are distinctly different in appearance. There is no mistaking the difference.

Below is a photo of a pen of chicks at 8 weeks old. The little cockerel in the center stands out like a sore thumb. You would know if you had a cockerel. What you likely have is one pullet maturing much faster than another and you are also seeing basic personality differences in your two birds.
