My six chicks are about 7 weeks right now. This week I have noticed some major changes in Goldie. I had my doubts about her sex since she was a wee chick. I am looking for some oth opinions on the sex of my Golden Comet chick. After searching all over the Internet for pictures it seems this entire breed has a wattle and a comb...

That is a cockerel, of course. You don't need opinions, as this the nature of the hybrid.

Mostly red is a pullet, mostly off-white is a male. That is the way sex links work.
He's got his comb and wattles going good too. Pullets don't show that much until 15 weeks.

Thanks everyone! I am bummed about this. I knew he was most likely a rooster, but was trying to be hopeful. He sure is going to be a handsome rooster! I have six different breeds in my flock. Unfortunately the store I bought my golden comet from no longer has any In the age range I am looking for to replace Goldie. They do have some black australorps though. My hope with the golden comet was an early layer... :(

Well since they are most likely from a hatchery your bets are pretty good that they all should lay pretty early, My GOLDEN COMETS didn't lay until 22 weeks, which most hatchery birds lay around that time 26-30 weeks, Autralorpps are a really good choice also, you wont be dissapointed.
