Golden Comets?

They are about five weeks old. They both kind of look girly to me, too, although the dark one has more pullet-y plumage. The reason that I am confused is that both of these chicks were very light yellow when they arrived--if they are golden comets, then shouldn't they have been reddish?

Perhaps you missed my gentle way of saying I didn't care about your non-helpful opinion. They came from Ideal. Would they have produced mutts?

(Seriously, if you can't be kind or if you can't be helpful, then why are you posting to threads on this forum?)

I do not think the hatcheries produce mutts and I believe because of the "off" leg color and the puffy cheeks that they are EE which is a good score as they are great layers and friendly... typically

Probably too early to be able to tell the sexes for sure. The lighter one sure looks like an EE with those green legs and its comb. The darker one doesn't look like an EE to me (based on the comb) and I'm not sure if it's a Golden Comet, but I'm certainly no expert. I guess you're going to have to wait a few more weeks and post more pics...

If the second chick is infact a golden comet, it is a male, however, Do to the golden comets mix (RIR x whiteleg horn -generally) I would not picture them to ever have green legs...

I could be wrong, I have 10 golden comet pullets. All are red, the males are white or a very light yellow as babies.

Thanks everyone! I guess I'll "suffer" with them a couple more weeks and see what develops. I kind of hope they are EEs, since I have a friend who is looking for more for her flock.
