I've had them two weeks today. They are supposed to be Golden Comets. They were from the pullet bin at TSC. I tried to choose the two chicks without any white and the reddish color on their heads. They are getting so big. I think it will be a few more weeks before we know exactly what breed/sex.

I have had them for two weeks. I have no idea how long they were at TSC. I was told only three days but I don't know how one would know that with so many bins.

They look like girls to me! They're a great choice.....super layers and they don't get too big, so they won't eat you out of house and home!

Every Hatchery has a different name for the same basic chicken. Some are Red Stars, Golden Comet, and Cinnamon Queen. They are all different names for the same breed of chicken. The Red Sex-Link. Simply a RIR or NH Rooster bred to a mostly white hen like the Leghorn or White Rock. I have had several attempts at deciding the true differance in appearance of each of the varities of Red Sex-Links with no luck. I have found that because they are a hybrid and every hatchery creates this breed with their own combination, it is imposibble to tell if they are Golden Comet, Red Star, Cinniamon Queen, ect. I have six Red Sex-Link hens and all five were ordered as Golden Comets from Cackle Hatchery (which supplies ALOT of feed stores) but now at three years old, three are nearly identical while the other three are all unique in color and pattern but THEY ARE PURE. Pure Red Sex-Link. Your little chicks look EXACTLY like mine did but after about three months the differances started showing. Don't get me wrong, I love the breed and love the large brown eggs they lay. They are the perfect starter chicken for anyone. The Roosters are BEAUTIFUL and the hens are lovley! My girls are my best layers and my friendliest six. I think that what you have a some very pretty Red Sex-Link Hens.....They are all hens in my opinion! You will love them and they will lay lots of LARGE eggs for you. (don't count on broodiness though, out of six, in three years, I have never had a broody Golden Comet)

Always Glad to Offer a Hand
