Golden Comets

Just to let you know, because Golden Comets (I like to call them Red Stars) lay so much, it will cause more stress to their body then other breeds that don't lay as much, thus they are likely to have a shorter life span or have problems. I have had 2 and they were quite amazing layers, but unfortunately they were both taken by a bear, so I do not know how long they could have lived. I'm not trying to be a downer, I thought that you would perhaps like to be aware of the things that may be included with them. They are beautiful and I hope you will enjoy them as much as many of us chicken owners. Have Fun! :)

I have 2 Golden Comets and 1 RIR. They are all 3 still laying an egg everyday. They are very docile and very inquisitive about everything. They did well in the 100 degree summer we had and also they haven't had any problems with the cold so far been in the 20's at night. I wanted to get some more chicks in the spring and I think I will stay with the Golden Comets because they are so easy going and lay so many big brown eggs
