Golden Cuckoo Maran X Blue Ameraucana Roo

You're thinking of red sex linked crosses, which is a different kind of cross that's more based on a gold male over a silver female.
I’m not. I know the hatchery bsls are either rir or nhr over br. And I read somewhere the black with red leakage, (Like mine) work best with a red based roo but will work with gold based.

Now I understand what you mean. Yes, hatcheries often use RIR/NH over barred Rocks to create black sex links. Because that cross tends to create the best hybrid egg layer. However that isn't the only way to create black sex links.

Black sex links can be created by crossing just about any non-barred, non-white male with a barred/cuckoo (does not have to be a pure breed, just has to be barred/cuckoo) female. The hen will pass the barring gene on to only her male offspring, since it's on the Z chromosome (roosters are ZZ, hens ZW - hens also determine a chick's sex). Cockerels will have the white head spot indicating the barring gene is present while the pullet chicks will not.

I thought it would only work with red or buff Roos, great explanation.

So much useful information! Thank you all for the help! So was I correct then in my guessing of my 7 chicks? 2 make 5 girls? Or should I try and get individual pics?

4 Weeks Old. I’m pretty sure the two barred ones are males and the rest are female. I’m really liking how their coloring is turning out can’t wait to see if they lay Olive eggs!

Here is how they look today they are almost full grown. Not laying yet I can’t wait to see if they have olive colored eggs. I ended with 6 hens which is awesome out of 8-9 hatched eggs! A couple have a little feathering on the legs.
