I was at our local farm store yesterday. They had a rare breed assortment from www.cacklehatchery.com . I nabbed 2 Partridge Cochin chicks ~1 wk old for cheap!

I used Rural King in IL. I assume you have an equivalent where you are. Lots of places will combine small orders this time of year so you get just the number you want without lots of shipping, etc.

I'm currently working on some now...I just hatched out three from Golden Laced Cochin hens x Black Orp roo. While they have a ways to go with the improvements, they are still looking pretty good.
