Golden Laced Polish, Pullet or Roo??

that looks like a cockerel based on wattle development and the swept back crest.

cockerels crest are swept back while pullets are nice and rounded for the most part but this doesn't hold true on hatchery stock though from what i have noticed

Well, I am no closer to knowing now then I was 3 weeks ago. It hasn't crowed yet, so I got that going for me! Here is a new pic. I don't have any new close up pics of it's face, sorry. Maybe I'll get some tomorrow. It's face is still the same color and the tiny wattles are the same size.

I go back and forth on it's sex. I have been scouring the forums for pics of young polishes and have found so many laced polish pullets with not round, uniform crests. Just as long as they don't have thin, pointy streamers sticking up. So I'm not basing my hunches on crest until I see those.

My feeling is a pullet. I don't have one but hopefully I'll get a couple next spring.

at 13 weeks i would expect to see bigger wattles if it was a cockerel. be on the look out for the saddle feathers coming in. if it is a cockerel those feathers should become visable in the next few weeks since they start to come in around 13-15 weeks of age but i am leaning more towards a pullet now though.

Yay! I hope so. I am at my capacity for my small backyard flock and won't be raising any new chicks for a long while. I really want to hang on to my polish.

As for the saddle feathers, are they skinnier too? Would they just now be starting to poke thru the skin? What should I look for?

I'll try and take pics of it's face soon and post them.
