It’s the tail that worries me- do the females hold it so high? In all but last photo crest I’d trimmed and some feathers held up in a rubber band so she can see.

Looks like a female. No saddle feathers at the base of the tail.

They were all plucked when I got her. Wait and see?

Both look like males to me. A female would look like this.

I wonder if those missing saddle feathers were removed on purpose to get rid of unwanted males.

Some females do hold their tails that high. So I do not think the tail position is going to tell anything useful about whether the bird is male or female. (Nothing else is giving me strong ideas one way or the other, either.)
