She looks like she is being very attentive...I hope she carries on!

Am waiting on 10 Buff Sussex eggs to put under my lovely silkie cross. I will be moving her and her 3 plastic eggs into the 'nursery' tonight, and am hoping she will be happy to take on the buffys when they get here. Last year she was the best momma hen in the world for a good 8 weeks.

How do you go about moving your broody? When we tried moving ours to a more secure spot (ie: the rest of the girls couldn't get in to lay & keep adding eggs), she got off the nest and was quite upset. When we let her out of there, she went immediately back to her original spot. We ended up building a cage around her. Not exactly the way I wanted it - it was, of course, a very inconvenient spot for us to care for her. I hatched silkies a few months ago specifically in hopes of broodies - I'd love to have a better set up when they are ready.
