Golden Laced Wyandotte, Hen or Rooster?

I think at 8 weeks its too hard to tell, also buying chicks as pullets is a crap shoot I bought 67 chicks this spring 50 pullets the rest straight run, I ended up with 10 roos in the pullets and only 1 in the straight run chicks, different breeds . I thought at 8 weeks I would be able to tell, now that they are almost 5 months old ones I was sure were roos turned out to be hens and my favorites are boys which bummed me out, combs are not always the best indicator on young birds. Some of my chicks that combed early were not roos . In my gold lace batch, bought 8 @ pullet price ended up with 3 Roos 5 pullets. Chances are if its a favorite its a rooster

Looks like a boy to me, but I have had several pullets that looked like roos at that age. You might want to keep it until you know for sure. Beautiful bird at any rate!

He is a cockerel. I just want to say that all roosters aren't mean. I have a Jersey Giant which is one of the biggest heavy breeds birds, he is huge and he wouldn't hurt anyone. We can even pick him up . He is 2 years old so not a baby. Mine crows whenever he feels like it thou, it can be morning noon or night, but it doesn't bother me or my neighbors. I would hold on to him and see how things go.
Agreed! I have a year and a half Jersey Giant roo and hes still growing! He scares our neighbors saying (You shouldn't keep such a big rooster!) But honestly he is the sweetest rooster i've ever met! all my other roos are either aggressive or skittish but my JG loves to interact with people

Rooster or Hen? Stargazer, a Neurological issued chicken around 4 or 5 months, a pain in the butt, cute, a (idk) golden laced Wyandotte.
