I have what was purchased as a golden pencilled Wyandotte chick. As it’s growing, I’m trying to determine if it a pullet or cockerel. Does anyone have any rooster pics of one? I’m having a difficult time locating any rooster pics myself even through google.

They read the paperwork from the hatchery and golden penciled was what they were listed as. It’s between two and three months old. I’m terrible at keeping track of when I get them.

I completely give up on believing what the store says now. Paperwork or not! :barnie
Thank you for your help JedJackson
You're welcome and I completely understand your frustration. For some reason feed/tractor supply stores get it wrong a lot. Better to buy directly from a hatchery.

The bird in your photo isn't a good quality Hamburg, either. It almost looks mixed. But it has white earlobes, while Wyandottes have red ones, and it has blue legs, while Wyandottes have bright yellow legs. The plumage color and size are also not right for a Wyandotte.

So they definitely got it wrong. Also, gold penciled isn't a color variety for Wyandottes, but it is for Hamburgs. Wyandottes with gold in the plumage come in gold laced and partridge.

Actually, I bet it was MY bad and I mixed up Hamburg and Wyandotte and the store may have been right.

Looks like this guy needs to go to a new home. Anyone in Oklahoma area interested?!
