I have a question for everyone out there. I have a Golden Polish Rooster who I am planning on showing in late August. I'm planning on separating him from the rest of the flock for a while to get him in tip-top shape, but I have a problem. A few months ago he was picked on by some hens, and they pecked a bald spot on the top of his head. I separated him and got it to heal up completely, but some of the feathers that grew back are white. Not a lot, just three or four. What's the best way to get rid of these? And since then he's be re-integrated and another bald spot has appeared.

Will more white feathers grow out of that?
It's strange, all of my Polish chickens are picked on by my other hens and the other rooster. What is with this? They just peck them on top of the head when they bend down to eat. I'm going to have to build another pen just for the Polish birds.

Having being picked on or not, white feathers especially in hatchery stock Laced Polish is very common. The thing to do is pluck them, but if there's already missing or broken feathers there, you're going to have to cancel showing him.

As long as he is not a young cockerel it's accepted in the APA & ABA standard. Only Older fowl are allowed to have white in the crest.
