I ordered some eggs from a maran breeder found on maran club usa who lives near me. He sent me 12 for the 6 e g g s I bought and some are darker than others. He calls his rating a 4-7 for color They are golden salmon marans. They will go into the genesis tomorrow. Edited to add, I ended up putting them in april 1 at 1030 pm.

Are they feather-legged or clean-legged?
What state are you located in? Just curious and a little envious too. lol.

I just went to look at the email he sent me about them. I really did not care as long as they were salmon marans.
"This listing is for eggs from my pure Salmon Marans, these ARE Golden Salmons!, these are 3rd generation of my Salmons and a continual work in progress, but are coming along really nice, the egg color has improved greatly from last years hens and my current breeding pen of Salmons consist of one Feather legged rooster, 3 feather legged hens, and one clean legged hen...these eggs vary from 4-8 on the color chart, and average between 5 & 7. These birds are housed separately from any other of my Marans and will be pure."

Oh thats good then. I have been looking for awhile now and can't find any feather-legged.
How do you rate the egg color? It's hard to see the picture you posted but they don't look like a 5-7.

Honestly I would rate them around a 4 on most, 5 -6 on some. one or 2 being a 7. My camera with the lighting in my spare bathroom just did not show the coloring good. He was good about the extras though, ordered 6 and he sent 12.
