It's weird right? when I first noticed it I was scratching my head.

The standard calls for a rose comb. Single combs tend to pop up in rose comb breeds because apparently the rose comb is linked to lower fertility but I never hear people saying that their Dominiques or Wyandottes aren’t hitting the mark.
