I like to joke that I'm cursed with boy-picking hands. I inevitably get a rooster in most batches of chicks I pick out from sex-sorted bins. I thought I'd get a sex link this time as wouldn't it be fun to KNOW it's a hen?
I think the feed store might have messed up their labeling or something. This chick is a little over two weeks old, her comb is turning pink, her legs are quite thick, and she (he?) behaves extremely boldly relative to the other chicks. Looking at the photos of chicks, the females look like they're supposed to be darker. I've been through enough chickens that I'm strongly suspecting this one is a roo, but I'm also unfamiliar with the breed.
So...do these sex link hens just look/behave this way? Halp.
