You don’t have to justify it - don’t feel like you have to. It’s your duck and your decision on how to raise her. If she was abused or neglected we would/should all be concerned - but she’s not! In fact quite the opposite - she’s pampered, loved and maybe just a little spoiled rotten lol! Nothing wrong with that!

I guess I wasn't trying to defend myself as much as ease someone else's mind. I know she's pampered, we call her the bougie duck at home, but I would be upset if I thought someone was abusing or mistreating an animal, and I don't want anyone to feel bad about her or for her. Not for my sake, but for their own.

I think you might want to tone down the layer with the starter so she isn't getting an over abundance of calcium until she begins to lay. Maybe half and half.

OK, so here's my recent mix. I have a salmon cat food first ingredient is salmon 1C, Waterfowl layer food 1C, Chick grower 2C, cut corn (which I have to pulverize completely for her to actually eat it) 1C. Then I mix it all together and give for about 1.5 cups of that mix each night. I started with 2 cups of it but she was wasting some, so I went to 1.5 and she eats most of it usually. She doesn't really like the waterfowl food, or the salmon food so I mix that with other stuff so she'll eat it. As long as the grower is the main ingredient, she eats it fine.
