The lady I got these two from didn't like them, I think she was a bit afraid of them, they are loud and obnoxious but come to me for treats and the male I have noticed likes his neck scratched.. The female is a tad bit leery but likes her share of the treats. They both eat from my hand and get excited when they see me coming and will follow me while doing chores... Have I said how much I missed this

Been reading up on what to expect when they start mating again and she gets a nest going. I know.. Several months away but they are housed in our garden area and adjacent finishing pen we used for the turkeys. They love the garden, We planted a winter cover crop in anticipation for the pigs in February...lol.. May not be much left, the geese ( Walter and Wanda) are loving it!

Was just reading about how the female will bury the eggs.. That's going to be quite the egg hunt, the garden area is 40x120 and VERY overgrown lol

If you give her a nice place to brood with protection and lots of nice soft bedding she should lay her eggs there. then you won't have to look for eggs all over the garden.

as of right now she has a nice covered 10x8 coop for just her and the MR.. Lots of pine shavings and straw but I am not expecting her to start laying until around March..... right??....

They will be moved to a new coop in a month or so when we start getting ready for the pigs.

Mine usually begin last of Feb into March so you have awhile yet.

I'm so excited!   We have spent the last two years wishing we hadn't given away the three we raised, The turkeys were profitable but not as friendly nor fun. :D   Looking forward to the eggs this one lays, I plan on snagging a few to incubate.  The lady I got these from had the 6 nearly grown goslings she allowed the female to raise, they were beautiful!

In my research I had thought she was a white Chinese.. where the lady got Embden is beyond me lol

I raise turkeys. I found that the pure white Tom's seem to be the friendliest. To get a pet Turkey you need to hatch it by hand and treat it like a baby my Tom sits in my lap and let's me pet him but he would try to mate with me sometimes which was weird. He was awesome until something broke the poor guys neck and killed him. :(
